CING is a study group for all cath lab nurses as well as day wards, coronary care units, etc., who care for these patients pre and post procedure.

Following the National Service Framework and NICE reports, it became very apparent that the already increasing workloads were going to continue, and it was felt that a forum for educational input and the exchange of information between centres was paramount.

Also, as nurse recruitment remains a problem in many centres, the exchange of ideas can only help to reduce workloads. We were initially looking to work with centres in the North of England, but much interest was shown from other areas, so the group will be open to all centres.

We have been fortunate that Janet Bates and Natalie Whitaker from
B. Braun Medical Limited, who facilitated the original meeting of Cath Lab Sisters, have continued to support the group by providing a venue for the Study Day's as
well as looking after the secretarial and art work.
